We set a goal in order to have something in life to aim for. Having a goal enables you to focus your energies on devising ways to achieve it. By setting and achieving worthwhile goals, you can give your life greater meaning and purpose. You will also find your work and personal life more exciting and fulfilling.
Here, then, are some goal setting tips.
Number one: Define your goal and work out a plan. Figure out what exactly your goal is. Top achievers know that to reach their goals, the brain must know exactly what they are trying to accomplish. Therefore, it is important to be specific. Moreover, your goals must generate excitement when you ponder their accomplishment. You must believe there is something in it for you to accomplish them. Number two: Set goals that are consistent with your values. Goals must be established based upon the solid foundation of your values. If the goal you set is congruent with and allows you to live your most important values, you are more likely to accomplish the goal.
Number three: Figure out what you need in order to complete your goal. In order to reach your goal, you will need a plan, a path, and a vehicle for getting there. Number four: Review, revise, and reward. Implement and review your plan. See how everything is going, and take note of your progress. If you find that it isn’t working for you, then you might want to revise and fix your plan a bit.
Number five: Believe that you can accomplish the goal. Each of us has a little voice in our head. It is the voice of our sub-conscious, judging self. You can change its tone by believing in yourself and in your ability to accomplish your goals and resolutions. Use this unconscious critic to positively support your goal setting success.
